Start with the packing process and the display.

Premade pouches are filled and sealed as individual bags. Rollstock runs through equipment that forms the package from film. Choose that production route before narrowing down the appearance.

Choose by the job the package needs to do.

You do not have to know every technical detail before asking for help. These three decisions give us a useful starting point.

Where will it be sold?

Tell us whether the product stands on a retail shelf, hangs on a peg, sits in a display carton, or ships directly to customers. The format should suit that environment.

How will it be packed?

Hand filling, a premade-pouch machine, and a form-fill-seal line have different requirements. Include your co-packer or machine specification when available.

How will it be used?

A single-serving pack and a larger resealable bag solve different customer needs. Consider opening, reclosure, and access to the product.

The format is only part of the specification.

The same pouch shape can be produced with different dimensions, materials, and print details. Finalize these together rather than treating the artwork as the only customization.

Fit and capacity

Choose an initial fill weight, then confirm physical dimensions with your actual product. Other foods’ capacity charts should not be treated as jerky sizing guarantees.

Material and sealing

Review barrier needs and packing compatibility with your producer. The right material depends on the product and process, not only the appearance.

Finish and identity

Use your artwork, surface finish, window placement, and flavor system to build a package that looks like your brand.
